5 Greatest Rock Songs Of All Time

RIP Lemmy, one of the last remaining rock stars. As far as the music of Motorhead, it will live on, especially “Ace Of Spades”, a hard rocker that really has everything you want in rock and roll. So where does it fit in all time songs?

Obviously, this is subjective and debatable, but I’ve come up with five. Not necessarily my favorite, but 5 of the greatest rock songs that should stand the test of time. Quick criteria: No ballads. Also, no Led Zeppelin or Metallica, not because not deserving of consideration, but most can’t agree on one song, and neither can I. Finally, no Stones, Beatles or Elvis. We need to compare apples to apples here, so we’re keeping it relatively modern hard rock genre focused.

5. Welcome To The Jungle (Guns N’ Roses)

This is the one that I wonder if will stand the test of time. A great intro, groove, lyrics and energy; really encompasses the best this band has to offer.

4. Ace of Spades (Motorhead)

Was this song hard rock, punk or just plain rock and roll? Yes, and that’s the point. I don’t know anyone who likes hard rock music that doesn’t like this song. It may not be on everyone’s top 5, but definitely worthy of debate.

3. Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones)

Hey Ho, Let’s Go!

2. Highway To Hell (AC/DC)

I’m sure there are a lot of “Back n’ Black” and “All Night Long” votes, but for my money, this one sets the bar high, yet simple for the future of rock.

1. Paranoid (Black Sabbath)

If any songs sounds what rock n’ roll is all about, for my money it’s this one…
