Looking to have an enjoyable day at the track (and hopefully a winning one)? Check out the best tracks in the U.S. to visit this summer!

Belmont Park

On a mild summer day or really anytime in the fall Belmont Park is a great place to kick back and watch horse racing. It’s very spacious inside and out with lots of green areas, creating a race track that takes care of the racing as well as a family friendly atmosphere. Of course, this is also where the final leg of the Triple Crown ends. Get their early to reserve a space, other days you are fine to casually come and go as you please. Belmont Park really is fun for the whole family.

Santa Anita Park

This park doesn’t pack them in like it has in the past, but some days there is still a nice crowd. With the San Gabriel Mountains as a backdrop it’s a perfect setting to kick back and watch horse racing. This is another park that is spacious, making it easy to move around and not have to wait for food, in betting lines or the parking lot.

Oaklawn Park

In Hot Springs, Arkansas you will find this track to be a welcome retreat for quality racing in a pleasant setting. The grandstands are enclosed and given Hot Springs is a resort town, there is a lot to do nearby. Check out this track during the Southern Racing Festival and don’t forget that Oaklawn also hosts the “Kentucky Derby” prep race, “Oaklawn Derby.”

Churchill Downs

There’s the Kentucky Derby, but that’s a major event. There is so much to see here it’s the perfect trip for non-Derby weekend. Check out the beautiful surroundings and soak up the sun and history. Yes, you can still order mint juleps on non-Derby race days if you must.

Saratoga Race Course

The track is amazingly well kept and there is a lot of fun weekends planned at the race track. However, don’t forget to check out the town (Saratoga) where it’s all about horse racing. There are statues in the street and lots of pubs with names that sound like “The Final Turn” to keep you in the horse racing mood.

Del Mar Race Track

They offer six days of racing and are located in Southern California. Essentially, if you are looking for a break from the beach you should go here. Californians have it so tough.

Ruidoso Downs

Place in a beautiful mountain setting, Ruidoso Downs offers lots of big purse events and fun racing days. Oh, and they offer ‘quarter’ race betting. If you are a ‘penny slots’ person this is the track for you.

Arlington Park

This horse race park is often heralded as the best track in the U.S. The summer weather is brilliant and the track itself is top shelf. Inside you will find lots of options for food and fine dining. Always good to have fine dining options after hitting that trifecta!
